Inviting the other parent

Send an invitation by email. What the other parent will and won't see.

Invite the other parent from the last step of setup, or from Today → Invite the other parent by email. Enter their email and tap Send invitation. Today then shows Invitation sent to the other parent.

  • An invitation lasts 14 days. Sending a new one replaces the old one.
  • A family has two parents at most.
  • If the other parent lives in the other country, they can still join your family. Your family’s records stay in the country where you signed up.

Until they join, Sovela works fully for you on your own.

Joining from an invitation

If you’re the parent who was invited:

  1. Install the Sovela app on your phone.
  2. Open the invitation email on that phone and tap the link, then tap Open in Sovela.
  3. Sign up or sign in with the email address the invitation was sent to. Choose where you live; your family’s records stay where they’re already kept.
  4. Sovela joins you to the family and says You’ve joined your family. Then you do your own short setup. The children are already there, so you won’t add them again.

If Sovela says This invitation can’t be used, it may have expired or already been used, or you signed in with a different email address. Ask the other parent to send a new one. If you’re already in a family on Sovela, you can’t join a second one.

If you already have an account in the other country

Sign up from the invitation as usual. Sovela asks you to sign in to the account you already have, then offers to move it to the country where the family’s records are kept. Tap Move and join, enter the new code Sovela emails you, and you join the family.

Moving makes a new account in the family’s country with the same email and closes your old one. Your setup answers don’t carry over, so you’ll do setup again. An account can’t move if it’s already in a family, belongs to an organization, or has coaching or other access; in that case Sovela says so, and you can tell us with Send feedback.

What the other parent sees

Once they join, you share the children’s details, the calendar, messages and shared expenses.

These stay yours alone, and never appear on their side:

  • your setup answers, values and words
  • your boundaries (when messages reach you)
  • your private vault
  • notes Sovela shows you about your own messages
  • messages you’ve marked “information only”
