Messages

One topic per thread, messages kept exactly as sent, and a plain summary you can turn on.

Messages with the other parent live in Talk, one topic per thread: Schedule, Money, Health, School, Activities or General. Start a thread with the compose button, choose a topic and say what it’s about (for example, “Leo’s game Saturday”). One topic per thread keeps answers easy to find.

Kept exactly as sent

A message can’t be edited or deleted once it’s sent, by you, the other parent or Sovela. Each thread is hash-chained, so any change would show. This protects you both: what you said is what the record shows.

Urgent messages

Turn on Urgent for something that can’t wait for a digest, like a late pickup today. An urgent message comes straight through the other parent’s digests and quiet hours. Each parent can send 3 urgent messages a week, and the message box shows how many are left. Emergencies don’t count toward the limit.

If an urgent message you received wasn’t urgent, tap Not urgent. Both of you see the flag. It’s a fact on the record, not a judgment of either parent.

If a child is in danger, use Emergency instead.

Summaries

For a long message, Sovela can show a plain summary. The original is always one tap away with Original. A summary is never part of the record.

Delivered, never “read”

You’ll see On the way, Delivered in the next digest, or Delivered. Sovela doesn’t collect when anyone reads a message, so no one can see how fast you opened theirs. See when messages reach you.
